SUMMARY
The main project involves reforesting 18,450 hectares with native species in the northeastern area of Las Lajitas, Salta province, Argentina. Its mission is to transform agricultural and livestock lands into a habitat resembling a native forest of the semi-arid Chaco. This project is a pioneer in the region due to its scale and unique characteristics, and it stands out for not having commercial timber objectives. After the initial 40-year accreditation period, the area will be maintained for conservation and enrichment, with the possibility of renewal for a second carbon accreditation period.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
Restoration of native forests through 40-year native forest plantations in a historically degraded agricultural-livestock area.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
- Reforest 18,450 hectares of land previously used for agriculture and livestock to capture CO₂ and generate carbon credits (ARR methodology, VCS standard).
- Restore the native forest.
- Non-timber oriented.
- Increase the biodiversity associated with the native forest.
- Promote specialized employment in forestry activities.
