At Forest Defense, our expertise lies in ecological restoration with native species, combining science, innovation, and community engagement to regenerate some of the most threatened ecosystems in Latin America.
Our flagship initiative, the ARR Rewilding Hub in the Gran Chaco of Argentina, locally known as “Los Dálmatas”, is currently the largest native-species reforestation project in the region.
Located in the heart of the Semi-arid Chaco, the project aims to transform degraded former agricultural and livestock lands into functional, biodiverse, and climate-resilient forests.
Our methodology is built on three core pillars:
We are part of the territory. Every project we implement is ecologically sound, culturally relevant, and economically viable. By prioritizing native species and strengthening the link between science and local communities, we create living, resilient landscapes capable of sustaining biodiversity, improving soils, regulating water, and contributing to climate change mitigation.
Our projects have measurable impacts. The ARR Rewilding Hub in Gran Chaco is not just about planting trees – it’s about regenerating entire ecosystems. We rebuild natural habitats for endangered species, mitigate desertification, and provide sustainable livelihoods for local communities, involving all stakeholders.
Every tree planted and every ecosystem restored reverses the effects of climate change, protects biodiversity, and creates green jobs for people on the ground. The benefits go beyond carbon credits—our efforts result in cleaner air, healthier soils, and more resilient environments for future generations.
Our commitment goes beyond the present, we work to ensure real and lasting impacts on the landscape.
The additionality of the ARR Rewilding Hub, Los Dálmatas ensures that, without the project’s intervention, these degraded areas would continue to lose biodiversity and productive capacity. Each hectare restored represents an environmental benefit that would not have occurred otherwise: carbon capture, soil regeneration, and the return of native wildlife.
The permanence of the impact is at the heart of our strategy. We design sustainable ecological systems capable of maintaining themselves over time, supported by a program of continuous monitoring and strong partnerships with local communities. Once established, native species naturally adapt and sustain the ecological balance, gradually reducing the need for human intervention.
Our vision is clear: to build resilient, self-sustaining landscapes that can thrive in the face of climate change and ensure long-term environmental and social well-being for generations to come.
Join us in regenerating native forests, rebuilding natural habitats, and securing a sustainable future for our planet.
